She spends eight years pining over him, only to find herself getting a second chance at reconnecting. Dakota Johnson stars as Anne Elliot, a woman who is talked out of marrying the love of her life due to his humble economic status. Her latest work to hit the big screen is “Persuasion,” a new Carrie Cracknell film based on Austen’s last completed novel, and one of her most beloved among Austen fans (if slightly lesser known among the general public).
